Spring is one of my favorite times of year. Trees and flowers are starting to bud and break ground, the days are now longer, and a sense of renewal and life breeds new-found hope and beauty in our world. After the horrifying tragedy in Brussels this week, I think we all need a bit of an escape from reality to do something fun and lighthearted.
Easter is just around the corner and I think you are never too old to color eggs! I find myself doing just a few that I spend my time on. This year I have looked for different techniques and thought I would share. So if you feeling crafty & creative, coloring a few eggs is a fun way to spend a few hours and tune out the world. I’ve seen so many really beautiful and simple egg designs on pinterest. Here are some of my favorites!!
I am in love with this very bohemian color palette and nature inspired egg design. This technique is a leaf resist using items you can find right outside your door. These eggs would be gorgeous displayed in a basket or in small crystal glasses at each place setting for your holiday dinner! Can I just say that I want nail polish in each and every color in that basket!…Gorgeous!!
These black and white eggs would be fun to make and look how chic they look. This is done with a simple black sharpie. How easy and stylish are these?!
These pastel spring color palette of eggs is done with using spices and food to naturally color the eggs and provides a soft wash of color. Who knew red onion would turn an egg black??!
These colorful eggs are made by melting crayons on the eggs while they are still hot from boiling them, creating a vibrant marbled and abstract look.
These boho eggs are so stunning and the painted flowers against the black is incredible! Botanical prints scream Spring and would look elegant with any tablescape!
I can’t decide which technique I will try this year but check me out on Instagram and I will be sure to post a pic or two! So c’mon…call up some girlfriends and host an egg coloring night, it’s not too late! Open a bottle of wine and escape from the chaos of work and get your creative juices flowing! Have fun 🙂
Wishing you a Happy & Healthy Easter to you and your families!
